Yes, We Suffer

A few weeks ago I couldn’t sleep so I stayed up most of the night dutifully working on pengrenades material, drinking beer, and watching reruns of Kojak.  I went to bed at around 5am, but it was ok because I had the next day off work and I hate mornings anyway so why indulge them if I don’t have to, right?  Zzzzzz…After four blissful hours of sleep I was awakened by a POUND, POUND, POUNDing at the door and my dog BARK, BARKing like crazy.  It takes me a minute to figure out what’s happening.  I  put on some shorts and stumble over to the door…POUND, POUND, POUND, BARK, BARK, BARK!  I peek through a corner of the blind to see who it is, and it is a tall, teenage kid wearing a white baggy t-shirt, baggy jeans, navy blue hoody and looking like he’s from a neighborhood I don’t want to visit.  Not being anyone I recognize, but still wondering what’s up and being wary, I decide to put on a shirt and go out the back door and around the side of the house to the front and see what I can find out.  Mind you I’m still 3/4 asleep so this takes another minute or two.  When I get to the front porch, the kid is gone but he has left me a present!  I received the tract below, compliments of the Jehova’s Witnesses:

“All Suffering SOON TO END!”

Yes, the suffering did soon end.  I went right back to bed.

The painting on this pamphlet is so incredible that I had to share it with you.  First of all, if I was one of the people in that scene I sure wouldn’t be sitting that close to a moose, especially with my back turned to it.  I hear that moosies like baskets of pumpkins sitting in flower beds at the edge of their grazing range.  Also, is this a PRE-or POST-end-of-suffering scenario?  I could imagine it either way but I’m going to guess PRE.  Who would want to be sitting out in a dried up field of yellow straw with a deadly moose hanging around and nothing but pumpkins and apples to eat?  Yes, it is definitely depicting an image of suffering.  But soon it will all end.  Moose will find his basket of pumpkins, the rains will come and the field will be lush and green once again, and the people can get back to the office and be productive instead of wasting time and risking sunburn, or worse, a moose trampling.
