Everyone’s Wrong and I’m Right: Gene Colan 1926-2011.
Clifford Meth announced the passing of his friend comic artist Gene Colan. I grew up on Colan’s Howard the Duck. At Marvel Comics, a company that specialized in superheros, Colan showed me page after page of normal human beings. People with weight and earth in their pockets.
I redrew his comics many times, trying to capture…something.
My best wishes to Clifford and all Gene’s family and friends.
Ah, mis amigos, Shermin the Vermin and I are taking the month of July off to recharge. Check all the “Brian Hagen Comics” archives – they’re filled with comics!
Justin Green is still posting every Monday, and don’t you forget it. Come and enjoy!
Meanwhile, in this cartoon (“Bats in the Belfry”), we see that every family has its “white sheep.” In Shermin’s family, Cholly Churchmouse, is a one-rat flock. Although in this cartoon, Cholly looks flocked.
Favel Lee Mortimer, the inventor of flash cards, should be rolling in her grave right about now. Considering she used her cards to terrify children with the horrors of hell and damnation – let her roll.
